A person who manages their own business and is not employed by others. Also known in Mandarin as “自雇者”.

由来
  • 如果拥有自己的生意,能够赚取盈利或承受亏损,就算是自雇人士。对于自由工作者,如果是以服务合约的方式为他人工作,比如提供某种服务等,也可算是自雇人士。
  • 自雇人士纳税时,可用营业开销、员工医疗费等申请减税。
  • 保健储蓄(Medisave),是新加坡的第一条医疗保障线。1992年7月,公积金局(Central Provident Fund Board)推出自雇人士保健储蓄计划 (Self-Employed MediSave Contribution),以保障自雇人士有能力支付其医疗费用。如果自雇人士的年净营业收入超过$6,000,就需要自缴保健储蓄。
ETYMOLOGY
  • One is considered to be self-employed if they own a business and can make profits or suffer losses. Freelancers are also considered to be self-employed if they engage in contract work for others, such as providing some form of service.

  • When filing tax returns, self-employed people may apply for tax rebates on their business expenses or employee medical expenses.

  • Medisave is the first layer of medical protection in Singapore. In July 1992, the Central Provident Fund (CPF) launched the Self-Employed Medisave Contribution scheme to ensure that self-employed personnel are able to pay for their medical expenses. Self-employed personnel who earn a yearly net business income of more than $6,000 a year will need to contribute to MediSave.
