A moving, horizontal pedestrian conveyor belt. Also known in Mandarin as “电动行人输送带”.

由来
  • 电动人行道又称电动行人输送带、电动过道、电动行人道、自动行人道。
  • 在新加坡，电动人行道多用于机场、车站、港口等旅客或人流量大的场所。
  • 第一部电动人行道发明于 1893 年，是由美国建筑学家约瑟夫·莱曼·席尔斯比（Joseph Lyman Silsbee，1848-1913）为美国 1893 年举办的芝加哥世界哥伦布博览会（World’s Columbian Exposition) 而发明的。其功用是让行人可以轻松穿梭于会场中的各个景点。
ETYMOLOGY
  • In Singapore, travelators are frequently used in airports, MRT stations, ports, and other places with large volumes of commuters or people.
  • The first travelator was invented in 1893 by the American architect Joseph Lyman Silsbee (1848-1913) for the World’s Columbian Exposition held in Chicago, United States. Its function was to allow pedestrians to easily shuttle between various locations in the exposition.
