A person who manages the daily affairs of a clan association or club.

由来
  • 源自福建话（闽南话）的 tso pan。
  • 在自身方面，一位称职的座办必须要有做人处世的常识和涵养，对待人要谦让有礼，并且要会分辨是非黑白。
  • 他们也要有足够的社会阅历，生活经验，而且要对会馆和社团有一定的了解，并与理事会和会员们之间保持融洽的关系。
  • 到了20世纪末，座办这个职位在会馆里演变为执行秘书或组织秘书。这意味着，他们要负责的事务增多，事务的复杂性也有所变化，有别于之前所负责的事务。
  • 如今的会馆座办除了负责处理会员事务，也须参加会馆的发展工作，继续文化的传承。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “座办” originated from the Hokkien term tso pan.
  • A competent manager is someone who is able to manage intricate human relations while maintaining his/her composure. He must be modest and courteous towards others, and could tell right from wrong.
  • They must also have sufficient social exposure and life experience, a certain degree of understanding of the clan associations and clubs, and maintain a harmonious relationship with the board of directors and members.
  • By the end of the 20th century, the position of manager in clan associations has evolved into executive secretary or organisational secretary. This means that they were put in charge of additional duties and the complexity of the matters they handle has also changed.
  • Today, besides handling members’ affairs, the manager must also participate in the development of their clan association to ensure that cultural heritage is passed on to the next generation.
