ArteFactually Speaking

Arte(Factually) Speaking was a writing competition based on the National Heritage Board’s collections. This competition was jointly organised by the National Heritage Board, Tamil Murasu, Oli 96.8FM and Vasantham News and in conjunction with the 2014 Tamil Language Festival.

One of the objectives of this competition is to interest the students with historical artefacts related to Singapore’s culture and how its influence has been felt in South East Asia and in the world. It is also to educate the students about the richness of the history, how we have benefitted from this ancestral heritage and how our ancestors have left lasting legacies for us and Singapore.

It is our hope that these carefully curated artefacts will generate and encourage creative ideas for presentation, and that students will utilise skills they have learnt in school to bring these artefacts through writing in Tamil.
