Join us in celebrating Singapore’s rich Chinese arts, literary and heritage scene on 4, 5, 11 and 12 November!  Organised by Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, the Festival is now into its 7th edition and the Promote Mandarin Council is proud to be a Supporter of the Festival for the second time running.

Storytelling Techniques Workshop

Date: 5 November 2017, Sunday

Time: 2pm – 3pm (1st Session) and 3.30pm – 4.30pm (2nd session)

Venue: Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, Little Paradise Room (Level 1)


What's the secret to telling a good story? Join Ms Priscilla Wong as she shares some tips and techniques in this one-hour session for parents.

  • Suitable for Parent-Child participation (children aged from 5 to 12 years old)
  • Free Admission
  • Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  No registration required.

About Priscilla Wong: 


Co-founder of Skylace Language School, Priscilla Wong has more than 30 years of teaching experience.  She has been conducting story-telling sessions and Reading Workshops at various schools, to cultivate and promote children's interest in reading.  In addition, she has frequently hosted workshops and seminars for both educators and parents, so as to exchange ideas with regards to story-telling activities for children. For more than a year, Ms Wong has also been actively volunteering as a storyteller in Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC).  Ms Wong is an invited speaker for ideas on story-telling session in Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL).  She was also appointed by the National Institute of Education Singapore as an external trainer for Chinese language teachers on mastering story-telling techniques in 2016.
Mdm Priscilla Wong graduated from James Cook University, MBA.   Former DJ of FM Radio and Rediffusion.




Storytelling – Planting a Pear Tree and Finding Mr Giraffe  by Chou Sing Chu Foundation

About the story Planting a Pear Tree:

Once, a young man pushed his cart to the lively market to sell pears. His pears were fragrant and sweet, but a little expensive.  Just then, a beggar came along and begged the young man for food. Join us to find out what happened thereafter.

 

About the story Finding Mr Giraffe:

Little Rabbit needed to consult Mr. Giraffe for solutions to her problem.  Stay with us to find out what obstacles Little Rabbit faced on her way to finding Mr. Giraffe.

  • Suitable for children aged 4 to 10 years old. Parents are welcome to join in the session.

  • Free Admission.

Sing Chu Chinese Storytelling is proudly presented to you by Chou Sing Chu Foundation (CSCF).

Conducted by volunteer storytellers from all walks of life since September 2015, engaging stories taken from Sing Chu Children’s Collection and CSCF’s educational repository are presented to children at regular Chinese storytelling sessions. In listening to engaging stories, children can learn the Chinese language, ignite their imagination and instil good values.



Storytelling – I Will Always Love You
