Storytelling – Tale of Majie's Gold Fish Lantern
Date: 12 November 2017, Sunday
Time: 3pm – 4pm
Venue: Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, Gallery 4 (Level 2)
About the story
This picture book tells a compelling story of Ah Mei, an honest and hardworking majie who served her employer with much dedication, and eventually saved enough for her return back home to China. We hope that this story will give the young generation a glimpse of Singapore’s history, and in turn, learn to appreciate the people who have contributed to who and where we are today. The virtues exemplified by Ah Mei also makes her a good role model for children to learn about traditional Chinese values.
Come join Storyteller Tan Lay Keng as she tells a compelling story of majie and shares the virtues of our pioneers in early Singapore through Tale of Majie's Gold Fish Lantern.
