One of the secondary school courses in Singapore. The Ordinary Level (O-Level) Programme takes four years, while the Integrated Programme (IP) takes six years. Also known in Mandarin as “快捷课程” or “快捷班”.

由来

英语 “Express course” 的意译。
1980年，新加坡政府在中小学全面执行了分流制度，中学课程分为快捷与普通源流。
快捷课程分为两种: 四年的新加坡剑桥普通教育证书 (普通水准) (Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Examination [Ordinary Level]，简称“O水准”) 课程或六年的综合课程 (也称“直通车课程”)。
为了让学生在中学高年级选择科目时做出更明确的决定，同时也帮助他们在升高年级后应付课业的要求，校方会让学生在低年级时接触更广泛的科目。
修读普通水准课程的学生须在四年后参加O水准考试，之后以该考试成绩报读初级学院、励仁高级中学、理工学院或工艺教育学院。
修读综合课程的学生则无须参加O水准考试，在六年后可直接参加新加坡剑桥普通教育证书 (高级水准) (Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education [Advanced Level]，简称“A水准”) 考试，之后以该考试成绩申请大学课程。

ETYMOLOGY

The Mandarin term “快捷课程” is a paraphrase of the English term “Express course”.
Since 1980, the Government has implemented streaming in primary and secondary schools. The secondary school curriculum consists of Express and Normal courses.
There are two types of Express courses: a four-year course leading to the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level) examinations, and a six-year Integrated Programme (also known as the through-train programme).
In the Express course, students are exposed to a wide range of subjects at the lower secondary level, to help them make informed decisions when choosing subjects for the upper secondary level and cope with study requirements in upper secondary.
Students in the Ordinary Level programme take the O-Level examinations after four years. Based on their results, they can choose to enrol in a junior college, polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education or Millennia Institute.
Students in the Integrated Programme do not need to take the O-Level Examination, but instead take the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) examinations at the end of six years and use their results to apply for university.
