  • 在1966年和1967年之间,已故的林明发与制龙师傅梁宣华钻研出夜光龙。
  • 夜光龙必须涂上夜光漆,再由全身黑衣黑裤的舞者配合着舞步来控制。
  • 1967年,公众第一次在繁华世界体育馆(Gay World Stadium)内观赏到夜光龙的表演。
  • 从此之后,夜光龙扬名四海,从新加坡传到多个国家,如马来西亚、印度尼西亚、菲律宾、中国等。
ETYMOLOGY
  • This novel variation of the traditional dragon dance was created in 1966–67 by the late Lim Meng Huat and dragon dance prop maker Leong Shin Wah.
  • To create the glow-in-the-dark effect, the dragon is painted with luminous paint, then manoeuvred by dancers dressed completely in black.
  • The first luminous dragon dance performance took place in 1967 at Gay World Stadium.
  • Since then, the luminous dragon dance has become known far and wide, spreading from Singapore to many countries, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and China.
