ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “公园连道” is a paraphrase of the English term “park connector”. ƒ
  • The concept of a network of greenways was introduced by the Singapore Government in 1990. In 1991, the Park Connector Network proposal was adopted by the Garden City Action Committee.
  • Singapore’s first park connector was officially opened on 14 August 1992. It connects Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park with Kallang Riverside Park.
  • The Park Connector Network, which measured over 300 kilometres in 2019, is expected to reach 500 kilometres by 2030.
  • The Park Connector Network aims to improve connectivity between parks, nature reserves, and housing estates, while providing accessible recreational options for Singaporeans.
