• In most parts of the world, the Mandarin term for a top scorer in soccer is “射手”, in which “手” can mean either “hand” or “someone skilled at something”. In Singapore, however, the term “射脚” is used instead, substituting the word “脚” (“leg” or “foot”) for “手”, on the basis that soccer players score with their feet, not their hands.
