  • The GoodLife! Senior Activity Centre in Singapore (also known informally in Mandarin as “快乐中心” or “happiness centre”) was jokingly called “好命中心” (literally “good life centre”) in Hokkien by some seniors. Although some found the term “好命” to be crass and inelegant, the centre’s spokesperson disagrees, asserting that “好命” here refers to “good health and longevity, a rich and fulfilling life, and having plenty of children and grandchildren”.
