禧街（Hill Street）的俗称。

由来
  • 福建话 pa hue chu zeng 的意译。
  • 在闽南方言中，“打火厝” 指消防局。
  • “打火厝前” 一名中的 “打火厝” 指坐落于禧街的中央消防局（Central Fire Station），也称禧街消防局（Hill Street Fire Station）。由于该消防局面向禧街，因此禧街也俗称 “打火厝前”。
  • 建于 1909 年的中央消防局是新加坡目前历史最悠久的消防局，值辖范围主要为中央商业区及牛车水。
  • 有说法认为 “禧街” 一词中的禧是方言对于英语 “hill” （即山）的音译，而这里的山指临近的福康宁山（Fort Canning Hill）。
