位于新加坡中部，西邻纽顿（Newton）、新加坡河（Singapore River）及乌节路（Orchard），南接诺维娜（Novena），东北分别与武吉知马（Bukit Timah）及红山（Bukit Merah）相邻。

由来
  • 17 世纪的东陵区有很多山丘，经常有老虎出没。之后，南来新加坡的潮州人将这个区域进行开发，并称之为 “大东陵” （twa tang leng），意思是 “东部最高的山”。
  • 1854 年，新加坡首位法律事务代理人威廉·纳皮尔（William Napier）定居于东陵。他的住宅名为 “Tang Leng”，即音译自潮州话的 “东陵”。
  • 东陵一带建有许多高级住宅、酒店及外国大使馆。新加坡植物园（Singapore Botanic Gardens）也在此区内。建于 1859 年的新加坡植物园正门被称为东陵门（Tanglin Gate）。
