Is the Bear, the Elephant, or the Lion the mightiest animal in the forest? When the three friends come upon a golden crown that says, “For the Mightiest,” they each think that they deserve the title. Just when it looks like they’ll argue forever, an old woman comes along, which gives them an idea. They’ll have a contest to see who can scare her the most! But their game goes awry when a giant appears to take the crown. The giant is certainly the biggest, but does that make him the mightiest? Or is there someone else even mightier than the giant?

Review

“When a Bear, a Lion, and an Elephant find a golden crown in the forest, they argue over who should keep it. The crown sits on a rock that says, ‘For the mightiest.’ But which of them is the mightiest?

When a tiny old woman comes along, they take turns to see who can scare her the most. Surely they’ll know who the mightiest is then. Will it be the Lion with his roar? The Elelphant with his trumpet? The bear with his growl? What do you think?”

Children will have loads of fun with this story, deciding whether Bear, Lion or Elephant is mightier. And the story takes a nasty turn when a giant comes along to claim the crown and throw the animals off a cliff! Fortunately, for the animals, this isn’t the end of the story. Along comes an unlikely heroine to their rescue and put an end to the ruckus. A lovely story that is a wonderful reminder that the truly mighty need no crowns and size isn’t everything!
