  • 1996 年,星网电子付款私人有限公司(Network for Electronic Transfers(Singapore)Pte Ltd)在经过五年的研发后,推出可通过电子付费系统进行付费的现金卡(CashCard)。新加坡当时是世界上第一个在全国范围内推出电子预付卡的国家之一。
  • 2009 年,星网电子付款推出免接触现金卡(NETSFlashPay),公众可在公共交通、公路电子收费、熟食中心、食阁、超市、便利商店等地方使用。
  • 2018 年,星网电子付款推出免接触式现金卡(Contactless CashCard),提供用户各种福利,包括累积奖励积分以及免费的现金卡保险等。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “现金卡” is a paraphrase of the English term “CashCard”.
  • In 1996, after five years of research and development, Network for Electronic Transfers (Singapore) Pte Ltd (NETS) launched the CashCard, which could be used to make payment through an electronic payment system. Singapore was one of the first countries in the world to introduce electronic prepaid cards nationwide.
  • In 2009, NETS launched NETSFlashPay, which the public could use to pay for public transport and electronic toll fees, and for purchases made in hawker centres, food courts, supermarkets and convenience stores.
  • In 2018, NETS launched the contactless CashCard, which provided users with various benefits such as the accumulation of reward points and free CashCard insurance.
  • People can buy CashCards online or from places like convenience stores and NETS customer service centres. One can top up the cards at convenience stores or NETS self-service top up machines.

There have been at least five cases of taxi drivers falling victim to theft in Geylang, Ang Mo Kio and Boon Keng. The “thief” passengers used a diversionary tactic of paying with EZ-Link cards, credit cards or CashCards which are not able to effect a money transfer.
