  • 新加坡河岸富有历史的地段,以新加坡第二任总督安德鲁·克拉爵士 (Sir Andrew Clarke)命名。
  • 19世纪末到20世纪初,克拉码头是重要的港口,用于货物的运送。这里也是来自潮州和福建的移民早期聚集之地,岸上的店屋曾是货仓和移民劳工居住的地方。
  • 1993年,这个富有历史性的地带进行了大改造,成为一个“节日村”(Festival Village) ,原先的店屋也改头换面,成为时尚、美食与娱乐的场所。2006年,克拉码头再度进行了改造,如今是新加坡人和游客休闲的热门景点之一。
ETYMOLOGY
  • Clarke Quay is an area rich with history, named after Singapore’s second Governor, Sir Andrew Clarke.
  • From the end of nineteenth century to the early twentieth century, Clarke Quay was an important port for the transportation of goods. This was also where the early Teochew and Hokkien migrants settled. Shophouses along the bank were warehouses and lodgings for the migrant labourers.
  • In 1993, this historical area underwent a radical change, turning into a Festival Village. The original shophouses were transformed into fashion, food and entertainment spots. In 2006, Clarke Quay underwent another transformation and became a popular leisure spot for locals and tourists alike.
