释义

副词

为肾脏衰竭的病人用机器去除血液里和腹膜里的有害物质。

DEFINITION

Adverb

To help kidney failure patients remove harmful substances from the blood and peritoneum using a machine.

ETYMOLOGY

  • The Mandarin term 洗肾” was used as early as 1974 in the Nanyang Siang Pau.
  • Kidney failure is mainly caused by diabetes and high blood pressure. High blood sugar in diabetic patients is likely to cause the kidneys to overwork when filtering blood, which can cause irreversible damage to the kidneys over time. High blood pressure, on the other hand, can damage the capillaries of the kidneys, affecting their ability to filter blood.
  • Conventional methods of dialysis can be divided into two main types: haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
  • The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) introduced a new form of dialysis in 2019—haemodiafiltration.
  • The NKF was founded in 1969 by Dr Khoo Oon Teik and others.
例句
血液透析则通过净化血液把有害物质排出体外,但患者须平均每周三天到洗肾中心洗肾,每次约四小时。(《联合早报》,18/6/2018)
SAMPLE SENTENCE

Haemodialysis cleanses the blood by removing harmful substances from the body. However, patients must visit dialysis centres and undergo dialysis thrice a week, with each session lasting about four hours. (Lianhe Zaobao, 18/6/2018)
