释义

名词

主要用于开锁的工具,同“钥匙”。

DEFINITION

Noun

A tool mainly used for undoing locks. It has the same meaning as “钥匙”.

ETYMOLOGY
  • A term for keys originating from dialects in southern China.
  • The term “锁匙” is also used in dialects like Hokkien, Cantonese, and Teochew in Singapore. This term was later borrowed into Singapore Mandarin and is widely used in both speech and writing.
  • Besides undoing locks, the Mandarin term “锁匙” can also be used to refer to tools with the function of enabling access. For example, NETS rolled out the Flashpay Key Tag in 2011. This “key” has the functions of payment and value storage. It is used in the same way as typical contactless payment cards.
