释义

名词

背面带粘性不干胶的便条纸,可随意重复撕贴。

DEFINITION

Noun

Small pieces of paper with a non-drying strip of adhesive that can be stuck and re-stuck.

由来
  • 英语“post-it”或“removable self-stick notes” 的意译。
  • 便利贴有许多不同的颜色和大小,一般好几十张一叠。
  • 1981年,便利贴由美国3M公司开始生产。
  • 新加坡讲标准英语运动(Speak Good English Movement)曾在2010年推出一个名为“正确使用”(Get it Right)的活动,旨在提醒民众使用正确的英语。这个活动在人流多的地方(如食阁等)进行,民众可在便利贴上写下有错误的新式英语(Singlish)并给予纠正,然后贴在餐桌上。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “便利贴” is a paraphrase of the English term “post-it” or “removable self-stick notes”.
  • Post-it notes come in many different sizes and colours, and are usually sold in dozens of sheets per pad.
  • Post-its were first manufactured by the American company 3M in 1981.
  • In 2010, the Speak Good English Movement was launched with the tagline “Get it Right” to remind people to use the English language correctly. An activity was held in places with high foot traffic, such as food courts, in which members of the public were encouraged to correct the improper use of Singlish with proper English on post-it notes, and paste them on dining tables.
例句
用便利贴盖住关键字句,接着放上有色塑料片,字句得以隐藏,更容易考考自己是否背熟,背起来事半功倍。(《联合早报》,18/12/2019)
SAMPLE SENTENCE
Using post-it notes to cover key words and sentences, then placing a coloured plastic sheet over the page to hide them makes it easier to check if you have memorised them correctly. This makes memorisation easier and more convenient. (Lianhe Zaobao, 18/12/2019)

RELATED INFORMATION

  • Post-it notes are also known as sticky notes, or self-stick notes.
  • There is a story behind the invention of post-it notes. A scientist at 3M originally wanted to develop a strong adhesive, but unexpectedly invented a glue that could be peeled off repeatedly without losing its adhesiveness. Meanwhile, another scientist in the company who was practicing with his church choir was tired of the bookmarks in his hymn book always falling off. He wanted a bookmark that could be stuck and re-stuck without damaging the pages of the hymn books. After the two scientists began collaborating, 3M was able to develop the post-it notes that are now widely used worldwide.
