一种以集体步行筹款的活动。
Noun
An activity in which a group of people walk a distance together to raise funds.
The Mandarin term “义走” is a paraphrase of the English term “charity walk”.
Charity walks are a common activity used to raise funds in Singapore, and are usually initiated by social organisations. Apart from inviting organisation members, as well as their family and friends, some organisers also invite union leaders, Members of Parliament or Ministers to participate and support the event. Charity walks not only raise funds, but also promote better communication and exchange between residents.
Most charity walks in Singapore are organised to raise funds through donations from sponsors, members of the public, as well as events such as charity bazaars. The funds raised will be handed over to charity organizations for public service activities.
The route of charity walks is usually between 3 and 5 km. Such events are usually organised in open areas with fresh air, such as Marina Bay, East Coast Park or Bukit Timah.
