ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “堂费” is a paraphrase of the English term “court fees”.
  • Court fees include various expenses incurred during the litigation process, such as filing fees, but do not include lawyer fees.
  • The various fees are assessed based on the standards specified in the Rules of Court.
  • Court fees are normally borne by the prosecuting party, but the judge can decide who will pay the court fees and the specific amount to be paid.
