One of the courses in secondary schools. The Ordinary Level (O-Level) Programme takes up four years while the Integrated Programme (IP) takes up six years. Also known in Mandarin as “快捷班” or “快捷课程”.

由来

英语 “Express Course” 的意译。
自 1980 年，政府全面在中小学执行了分流制度，中学课程分为特别、快捷和普通源流。
快捷课程分为两种：四年的新加坡剑桥普通教育证书（普通水准）会考（简称 O 水准）或六年的综合课程（也称直通车）。
为了让学生在中学高年级选择科目时做出更明确的决定，同时也帮助他们在升高年级后应付课业的要求，校方会让学生在低年级时接触更广泛的科目。
普通水准计划下的学生须在四年后参加 O 水准考试，之后以该考试成绩选择报读初级学院、励仁高级中学、理工学院或工艺教育学院。
六年的综合课程计划下的学生则无需赴考 O 水准考试，直接在六年后参加 A 水准考试，以该考试成绩申请大学。

ETYMOLOGY

The Mandarin term “快捷课程” is a paraphrase of the English term “Express Course”.
Since 1980, the government fully implemented streaming in primary and secondary schools. The secondary school curriculum consists of Special, Express, and Normal streams.
There are two types of Express Courses: a four-year course leading to the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level) examinations or a six-year Integrated Programme (also known as the through-train programme).
Schools will expose students to a wide range of subjects at the lower secondary level, to help students make informed decisions when choosing subjects for the upper secondary level, and cope with study requirements after promoting to upper secondary.
Students in the Ordinary Level programme must take the O-Level Examination after four years. Based on their examination results, they can choose to enrol in a junior college, polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education or Millennia Institute.
Students in the six-year Integrated Programme do not need to take the O-Level Examination, but instead take the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) examinations at the end of six years and use their results to apply for university.
