A Japanese-themed garden situated next to the Chinese Garden in Singapore's Jurong district. Also known in Mandarin as “日本花园”.

由来
  • 星和园为新加坡的旅游景点之一,由日本园林专家中根金作(Kinsaku Nakane) 设计,运用了日本造园的技术。 星和园的建造耗费了三百万,内有假山、石凳和水池等日式建筑,1970年代开幕期间是日本以外最大的日本式园林。
  • 1970年,明仁天皇 (Emperor Akihito) 和美智子皇后 (Empress Michiko) 曾在星和园种植苏铁 (Cycads)。
  • 1973年,当时的国防部长吴庆瑞博士为星和园主持开幕仪式。
  • 1986年,星和园和裕华园之间建了一架中国式桥樑,将两个园林连在一起。这座桥由来自台湾的中国园景工程师袁成荫教授设计。
  • 2019年,星和园关闭进行为期两年的装修,预期于2021年完工。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Japanese Garden is a tourist attraction designed by Japanese garden expert Kinsaku Nakane using Japanese gardening and landscaping techniques. With a construction cost of three million dollars, it is filled with elements of Japanese architecture such as a rockery, stone benches and ponds. At the time of its opening in the 1970s, it was the largest Japanese-style garden outside of Japan.
  • In 1970, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko planted Cycads in the Japanese Garden.
  • Dr Goh Keng Swee, then Minister of Defence, officiated the opening ceremony of the Japanese Garden in 1973.
  • In 1986, a Chinese-style bridge was constructed, which linked the Japanese and Chinese Gardens. It was designed by Professor Yuan Cheng-yin, a Chinese Landscape Engineer from Taiwan.
  • In 2019, the Japanese Garden was closed for a two-year-long renovation, which is expected to be completed in 2021.
