位于新加坡东北部的地区。此地区的北，西，南边分别以淡滨尼高速公路 (Tampines Expressway)，中央高速公路(Central Expressway)以及杨厝港路 (Yio Chu Kang Road)为界。也称港脚。

Noun

An area located in the north-eastern part of Singapore. This area shares boundaries with the Tampines Expressway in the north, the Central Expressway in the west, and Yio Chu Kang Road in the south. Also known in Mandarin as "港脚".

由来
  • 盛港有着丰盛渔港的意思。早期这一带的居民多以捕鱼或种植胡椒、树胶以及黄梨维生。
  • 实龙岗河（Serangoon River）位于新加坡东北部。这条河流从淡滨尼路（Tampines Road）附近开始，经过后港（Hougang），并在盛港与双溪槟榔河（Sungei Pinang）汇合。因为以前实龙岗河旁有一个渔港，所以盛港以前也被称为“港脚”。
  • 1994年，建屋发展局 (Housing & Development Board)规划了盛港新镇，为盛港制定的主题为“海员的市镇”（Town of the Seafarer）。许多盛港街道和社区的命名也与海或农作物有关，例如河谷 (Rivervale)和安谷（Anchorvale即锚谷）是以海为主题命名，而 棕谷 （Palmvale）和可可谷 （Cocovale）则与农作物有关。

ETYMOLOGY
  • In Mandarin, the name Sengkang refers to a “prosperous harbour”. In the early days, the residents of this area mostly made a living by fishing, or planting pepper, rubber and pineapple.
  • Sengkang was also known as kangkar meaning “foot of the port” as it was once the port's location along the Serangoon River. The river is located in the north-eastern part of Singapore, running from near Tampines Road and passing through Hougang, before merging with Sungei Pinang in Sengkang.
  • In 1994, the Housing & Development Board (HDB) developed Sengkang New Town with the theme, “Town of the Seafarer”. The names of many streets and common areas in Sengkang are related to agriculture or the sea. For example, Rivervale and Anchorvale are named after sea-themed elements, while Palmvale and Cocovale are named after crops.
  • Sengkang is the first new town to have public transport amenities built in tandem with the public housing development. According to statistics from the HDB, Sengkang had 60,000 flats in 2018, with a population of approximately 210,000.
