Noun

A headwear with no brim, worn by male Muslims when attending formal occasions. Also known in Mandarin as “松佫” or “宋阁”.

由来
  • 马来语 songkok 的音译。
  • 据说宋谷的设计源自土耳其毡帽（Turkish tarboosh），自 19 世纪后期至今一直作为马来传统男士头饰。
  • 宋谷一般以绒布为主要制作材料。常见的宋谷颜色是黑和白，但还有蓝、红、青等色的宋谷。
  • 白色的宋谷，只有到回教圣地朝拜后的男性回教徒才可以戴。
  • 皇族所戴的宋谷帽上有金线编织的边宽，边宽越宽代表身份越尊贵，而一般最宽的是苏丹。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “宋谷” is a transliteration of the Malay term songkok.
  • It is believed that the songkok’s design originated from the Turkish tarboosh and has been used as a traditional Malay male headdress since the late 19th century.
  • The songkok typically uses velvet as the main material. It is commonly made in black or white but may also be in blue, red, or green.
  • The white songkok can only be worn by male Muslims after they have performed the pilgrimage to Mecca.
  • The songkok worn by royal families has a rim woven with gold thread. The greater the width of the rim, the higher the status of the royalty. Usually, the songkok with the widest rim is worn by the Sultan.
