A style of headwear with no brim worn by Muslim males, especially on formal occasions. Also known in Chinese as “松佫” or “宋阁”.

由来
  • 马来语 songkok 的音译。
  • 据说宋谷的设计源自土耳其毡帽（tarboosh），自19世纪后期至今一直作为马来传统男士头饰。
  • 宋谷一般以绒布为主要制作材料。常见的宋谷颜色是黑和白，但还有蓝、红、青等色的宋谷。白色的宋谷一般上是到麦加朝拜后的男性回教徒才会佩戴的。
  • 皇族所戴的宋谷上有金线编织的边，边宽越宽代表身份越尊贵，其中苏丹所戴的宋谷边宽最宽。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “宋谷” is a transliteration of the Malay word songkok.
  • It is believed that the songkok’s design originated from the Turkish tarboosh. The songkok has been used as a traditional Malay male headdress since the late 19th century.
  • The songkok typically uses velvet as the main material. It is commonly made in black or white, but may also be in blue, red, or green.
  • The white songkok is normally worn by Muslim men who have performed the pilgrimage to Mecca.
  • The songkoks worn by royal families have a border woven with gold thread. The wider the border, the higher the status of the royalty. Usually, the songkok with the widest border is worn by the Sultan.
