• “豆豆” in the Mandarin term “豆豆班” is the transliteration of the English term “toddler”.
• Pre-school education in Singapore is divided into several types: infant care, toddler pre-school, nursery 1 & 2, and kindergarten 1 & 2.
• Broadly speaking, all educational activities targeted at pre-school-age children belong to the scope of pre-school education. In a narrower sense, pre-school education refers to educational activities conducted in toddler pre-schools, kindergartens, nurseries and other pre-school education establishments. Toddle pre-schools are meant for children between 18 months and three years old, before they enter their first year of kindergarten.
• Parents can apply for pre-school subsidies, which are calculated based on household income, among other factors.

If it is not possible to extend the lease or find a new school site, not only will the kindergarten have to dismiss its teachers, hundreds of children from the toddler and nursery classes will also no longer have a school to return to and must be transferred elsewhere to complete their early childhood education.
