由来

豆豆班一词中的 “豆豆” 是英语 “toddler” 的音译。
新加坡的学前教育类型共分为：托婴服务（infant care）、豆豆班（toddler）、幼儿园（nursery 1&2）、幼稚园（kindergarten 1&2）。
广义而言，凡是以学龄前儿童为对象的教育活动，均属学前教育范畴。从狭义上说，学前教育则为豆豆班、幼儿园、托儿所及其他幼教机构中所进行的教育活动。豆豆班给进入幼儿园一年级前的幼儿就读，他们的年龄介于 18 个月至三岁。
家长可根据就业及收入情况，向政府申请介于 150 至 700 新币左右的豆豆班辅助津贴。

ETYMOLOGY

“豆豆” in the Mandarin term “豆豆班” is the transliteration of the English word “toddler”.
Pre-school education in Singapore is divided into the following types: infant care, toddler pre-school, nursery 1 & 2, and kindergarten 1 & 2.
Broadly speaking, all educational activities targeted at pre-school-age children belong to the scope of pre-school education. In the narrow sense, pre-school education refers to educational activities conducted in toddler pre-schools, kindergartens, nurseries and other pre-school education establishments. Toddler pre-schools are meant for children between 18 months and three years old to attend, before they enter kindergarten for the first year.
Parents can apply for pre-school subsidies, which amount would be determined by household income and other factors.
