碧山位于新加坡中部，北起宏茂桥(Ang Mo Kio)、南达大巴窑( Toa Payoh)，东临实龙岗(Serangoon)，西至中央集水区自然保护区 (Central Water Catchment)。

Located in central Singapore, Bishan is bounded by Ang Mo Kio in the north, Toa Payoh in the south, Serangoon in the east and Central Water Catchment in the west.

由来

昔日的碧山为坟山（广惠肇碧山亭，Kwong Wai Siew Peck San Theng,简称碧山亭）和甘榜（甘榜山亭，Kampong San Teng）。碧山这个名字取于碧山亭。广惠肇碧山亭现在位于碧山巷 (Bishan Lane)。
1870年，由梅南瑞带领的广惠肇三属人士在汤申路 (Thomson Road) 创立碧山亭。这里主要埋葬广东人和客家人。
1979年，建屋发展局 (Housing and Development Board) 开始建设碧山新镇。同年碧山亭被政府征用，计划日后重新发展。
20世纪80年代，建屋发展局将甘榜山亭和碧山亭发展成碧山新镇。碧山亭坟墓被迁移，甘榜居民也被安置于其他地区。

ETYMOLOGY

Bishan was previously home to the Kwong Wai Siew Peck San Theng cemetery (commonly known as the Peck San Theng cemetery) and Kampong San Teng. The Mandarin name “碧山” originated from the Peck San Theng cemetery. Peck San Theng is currently located at Bishan Lane.
In 1870, the Peck San Theng cemetery was established at Thomson Road by immigrants from Guangzhou, Huizhou and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province China, with Boey Nam Sooi at the helm. The cemetery mainly served the Cantonese and Hakka communities.
In 1979, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) began development on Bishan new town. In the same year, the Peck San Theng cemetery was acquired by the government for future re-development.
In the 1980s, the HDB began the development of Kampong San Teng and Peck San Theng cemetery into the Bishan new town. As a result, Peck San Theng was shifted, while the residents of Kampong San Teng were also relocated to other areas.
