Noun

A commercial complex in Singapore where many of Singapore’s notable booksellers have had a presence over the years. The Mandarin name literally translates as “Book City”.

由来
  • 书城商业大厦于1980年代设立，其别名为“百胜楼”（Bras Basah Complex）。书城坐落在新加坡市区的培英街（Bain Street）。当时，许多原本坐落在勿拉士峇沙路（Bras Basah Road）与桥北路（North Bridge Road）的书商，也成了书城的新租户。
  • 除了售卖各类书籍，书城也是举办书展和画展的场所。
ETYMOLOGY
  • Bras Basah Complex was established in 1980 in central Singapore, along Bain Street. Many booksellers on adjacent Bras Basah Road and North Bridge Road became tenants of the new complex.
  • Apart from selling books, Bras Basah Complex also hosts book fairs and art exhibitions.
