• “Chingay” originates from the Hokkien term zng ge, which means putting on colourful makeup and wearing bright costumes.
• The Chingay Parade started in 1973. The original programme featured mostly traditional Chinese performances, such as lion dances and dragon dances, wushu and opera. Over the years, it has come to feature more multicultural and international performances.

The next two nights of River Hongbao will culminate in a grand finale: Chingay Night. Visitors can enjoy the Chingay Parade from the Marina Bay floating platform for free, and immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere of Chinese New Year. (Shin Min Daily News, 22/2/2018)
