A type of hallucinogenic drug, which is a controlled drug in Singapore. Also known in Mandarin as "摇头丸".

由来
  • 英语“ecstasy”的音译。
  • “爱它死”大约于1995年开始在本地的夜间场所出现，使用者大部分是年龄介于20岁至40岁的蓝领工作人员和无业人士。他们很多都没有使用毒品的前科。
  • 因为服用爱它死后，使用者会不停地摇头晃脑，为此也称为“摇头丸”。
  • 在滥用毒品法令下（Misuse of Drugs Act），爱它死被列为非法A级受管制药物（Class A controlled drug）。爱它死的成分一般含有迷幻药“亚甲二氧甲基苯丙胺”（Methylene dioxymethamphetamine, MDMA），此法令规定拥有或服用MDMA者，将接受高达2万元的罚款，或10年监禁或两者兼施。
  • 走私爱它死毒品的犯罪者，将接受长达20年的监禁和15下鞭刑。非法进口或出口此毒品的犯罪者，将接受长达30年的监禁和15下的鞭刑。
  • 若新加坡公民或永久居民的犯罪者在新加坡境外服用这些非法毒品，也将面临长达10年的监禁，不超过2万元的罚款，或两者兼施。
ETYMOLOGY
  • It is the transliteration of the English word “ecstasy”.
  • “Ecstasy” started appearing in local night spots in 1995. Most users of this drug are blue-collar workers and unemployed people aged between 20 and 40 years old. Many of them had no past records of drug use.
  • It is also known as the “head-shaking pill” (摇头丸) because users of the drug will constantly shake their heads after using it.
  • Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, ecstasy is classified as an illegal Class A controlled drug. Ecstasy usually contains methylene dioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). Under these regulations, anyone who possesses or consumes MDMA will receive a fine of up to S$20,000 or 10 years of imprisonment or both.
  • Smugglers of ecstasy will receive 20 years of imprisonment and 15 strokes of the cane. Anyone who illegally imports or exports this drug will receive up to 30 years of imprisonment and 15 strokes of the cane.
  • Any Singapore citizen or permanent resident who consumes this illegal drug outside Singapore will receive up to 10 years of imprisonment or a fine of up to S$20,000, or both.
