释义

形容词

同类型的物品中体积较小的。

DEFINITION

Adjective

Items that are smaller in size compared to others of the same type.

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “迷你” is the transliteration of the English term “mini”.
  • As the term “迷你” is more expressive than words such as “小型” (“small”) or “微型” (“micro”), it is commonly used as an adjective in Mandarin. The word has a wide range of uses, with examples such as “迷你雨伞” (“mini umbrella”), “迷你相机” (“mini camera”), “迷你手机” (“mini mobile phone”), “迷你模型” (“mini model”), and more.
  • In Singapore, the term has even been used to refer to things that are already small or exist as a smaller version of the original. For example, Little Guilin in Bukit Batok was originally built to mimic the landscape of Guilin in China, but another similar landscape not far from Little Guilin has been dubbed “Mini Little Guilin”.
