  • 所谓的 “水工厂” 是指海峡制冰厂有限公司（Straits Ice Company Limited），位于里峇峇利路（River Valley Road）一带的工厂和仓库。
  • 如今该路段较著名的历史古迹为 “水廊头凤山寺”。坐落于现址的凤山寺创建于 1908 年，主祀广泽尊王，是新加坡南安人的信仰中心。凤山寺于 1978 年被列为国家古迹。
  • 莫罕默苏丹路于 1898 年正式命名。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “水廊头” is a transliteration of the Hokkien term chwee long tau.
  • The term “廊头” in “水廊头” is a paraphrase of the Hokkien word long tau, which means “factory”. The character “水” means water. “水廊头” thus refers to “water factory”.
  • “Water factory” in this context refer to the Straits Ice Company Limited, whose factories and warehouses are located along River Valley Road.
  • A more well-known historical landmark along River Valley Road today is the Hong San See Temple. The temple was established in 1908 and is dedicated to Guang Ze Zun Wang. It is also the center of worship for the Nan’an people in Singapore. Hong San See Temple was gazetted as a National Monument in 1978. 
  • Mohamed Sultan Road was formally named in 1898.
