由来
  • 福建话 chwee long tau 的意译。
  • 水廊头一名中的 “廊头” 是福建话 long tau 的意译，指工厂。
  • 所谓的 “水工厂” 是指海峡制冰厂有限公司（Straits Ice Company Limited），位于里峇峇利路（River Valley Road）一带的工厂和仓库。
  • 如今该路段较著名的历史古迹为 “水廊头凤山寺”。坐落于现址的凤山寺创建于 1908 年，主祀广泽尊王，是新加坡南安人的信仰中心。凤山寺于 1978 年被列为国家古迹。
  • 莫罕默苏丹路于 1898 年正式命名。
