由来
  • 新加坡是个繁忙的都市，要让新加坡的交通更加顺畅，高架公路扮演着重要的角色。1970年，本地首座高架公路建成，主要通往克里门梭道（Clemenceau Avenue）。接下来几年，路陆交通管理局（Land Transport Authority，简称“陆交局”）陆续建设了几座高架公路，舒缓车流量。
  • 1990年起，陆交局决定为所有的高架公路命名，方便公路使用者辨别所在的地点。
  • 除了作为重要的交通道路，大部分的高架公路底下也是摩托车骑士的避雨之处。这能让他们在下雨时远离高速公路，避免发生意外。
ETYMOLOGY
  • In ensuring smooth traffic flow on Singapore’s busy roads, overpasses or flyovers play a crucial role. In 1970, the first flyover, leading to Clemenceau Avenue, was completed. In the years that followed, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) progressively built more flyovers, which helped to improve traffic conditions.
  • LTA started naming flyovers from 1990, so that road users can better differentiate the routes.
  • The spaces under many flyovers are often used as rain shelters by motorcyclists to wait out a rainstorm instead of continuing to ride in the dangerous conditions.
