  • 2002年七月,市区重建局(Urban Redevelopment Authority)公布了连接南部山脊多个山头和公园的计划。这也是2003年公布的新加坡发展总蓝图(Master Plan)的计划之一,其目的是为了在该地段建造通畅的桥梁和走道,方便公众享受大自然。
  • 2006年中,长80米、宽四米的亚历山大拱桥(Alexandra Arch)和长1,600米、宽1.8米的丛林小径(Forest Walk)开启建设工 程,最终于2008年中完成。整个工程经费约新币一千三百万元。
  • 南部山脊路径于2008年中开辟建成并向公众开放。如今,南部山脊全长十公里,连接花柏山公园(Mount Faber Park)、直落布兰雅山公园(Telok Blangah Hill Park)、园艺园林(HortPark)、肯特岗公园(Kent Ridge Park)及拉柏多自然保护区(Labrador Nature Reserve)。
ETYMOLOGY
  • In July 2002, the Urban Redevelopment Authority unveiled plans to connect several hills and parks to form the Southern Ridges. This was also part of Singapore’s Master Plan 2003, with the objective of building an uninterrupted network of bridges and walkways in this area to bring the public closer to nature.
  • The construction of Alexandra Arch (an 80-metre long, 4-metre wide bridge) and the Forest Walk (a 1,600-metre long, 1.8-metre wide elevated walkway) commenced in mid-2006, and was completed in mid-2008. The two projects cost around S$13 million.
  • The Southern Ridges trail was completed and opened to the public in mid-2008. The 10-kilometre trail connects Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park, and Labrador Nature Reserve.
