  • 源自福建话 lau deng(楼顶)。
  • “楼顶” 一词借入新加坡华语后,在口语和书面语中皆有使用。
  • “楼顶” 一词也借入到马来语(loteng),其词义有所扩大,可指天花板。
  • “楼脚”,即福建话 lau kah,是"楼顶"的反义词,意思为楼下。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “楼顶” originated from the Hokkien term lau deng.
  • The term “楼顶” is used in both spoken and written Mandarin in Singapore.
  • The term is also used in Malay as loteng, and its meaning has been extended to refer to the ceiling.
  • The Mandarin term “楼脚”, or lau kah in Hokkien, which means “downstairs”, is the antonym of “楼顶”.
