Noun

Government or government-assisted schools with some autonomy. These schools can provide a wider range of programmes than a normal government school to enhance student experience, and apply for more government funding. However, they still follow the Ministry of Education (MOE) syllabus.

由来

自治学校（autonomous schools）于 1994 年成立。自治学校在课程的规划方面更有灵活性，政府也提供额外的补助让自治学校发展更多更广泛的学习内容。在学费方面，除了政府和政府辅助学校（government-aided schools）所津贴的学费，学生也须支付自治学校的学费。

ETYMOLOGY

Autonomous schools were established in 1994. They have greater flexibility in their curriculum. The government also provides additional funding for the autonomous schools to develop a more varied learning syllabus.
With regards to school fees, in addition to subsidies given by the government and government-aided schools, students must also pay fees of the autonomous schools.
