释义

名词、形容词

指两个相隔时间短的重大节日。

DEFINITION

Noun , Adjective

The celebration of two major festivals or holidays in quick succession.

ETYMOLOGY
  • In Singapore’s multi-cultural society, the various ethnic and religious groups have their respective major festivals. As different ethnic groups follow their respective calendars, their festivals may fall on different dates in different years of the Gregorian calendar. When two major festivals occur one after the other in a given year, this is referred to as “双佳节”.
  • For instance, this occurred in 1997, when Chinese New Year (celebrated on the first and second days of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar) fell on 7–8 February, while Hari Raya Puasa (celebrated on the first day of the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar) followed immediately on 9 February.
  • The term also applies when major festivals coincide with national holidays that are not tied to specific ethnic groups, for example in 2013, when Hari Raya Puasa fell on 8 August, a day before Singapore’s National Day (9 August).
例句
樟宜机场集团昨天发表文告说,8 月份的乘客人次之所以增加,是因不少人趁国庆日与开斋节双佳节长周末出外旅游。(《联合早报》,24/9/2013)
SAMPLE SENTENCE
Changi Airport Group issued a statement yesterday saying that the increase in passengers in August was because many had taken advantage of the coincidence of two major festivals, National Day and Hari Raya Puasa, to travel abroad over the long weekend. (Lianhe Zaobao, 24/9/2013)
