Food / Plants
A type of economical meal, which consists of a staple accompanied by dishes selected by the customer.
Economic rice is generally affordable and is commonly found in Singapore. It generally consists of rice as the staple, along with accompanying dishes that are selected by the customer.
Economic rice can be found in coffee shops, hawker centres or food courts all around Singapore.
These stalls usually have dozens of dishes, including meat, vegetable and seafood dishes, lined up on display for customers to choose from. Some stalls even include soup, making for a meal that is value-for-money.
The cost of economic rice at hawker centres varies according to the dishes selected.
In addition to economic rice, the stall also sells noodles and roast meats for $3. Long queues can be seen there during lunchtime, with dishes often selling out. (Lianhe Zaobao, 28/11/2018)
