由来
  • 1985年，新加坡开始朝向“无现金社会”(cashless society)的目标发展。
  • 1996年，星网电子付款私人有限公司(Network for Electronic Transfers [Singapore] Pte Ltd)在经过五年的研发后，推出可通过电子付费系统进行付费的现金 (CashCard)。
  • 2009年，星网电子付款推出免接触现金卡(NETS FlashPay)，公众可在公共交通、公路电子收费闸门、熟食中心、食阁、超市、便利商店等地方使用。
  • 2018年，星网电子付款推出免接触式现金卡(contactless Cash Card)，提供用户各种福利，包括累积奖励积分与免费的现金卡保险等。
  • 商家也可使用星网免接触现金卡作为具纪念性的储值购物卡。例如余仁生于2019年推出了一套三张、绘有独特设计的储值购物卡，作为其137周年庆典的纪念品。

ETYMOLOGY
  • In 1985, Singapore started moving towards the goal of becoming a cashless society.
  • In 1996, after five years of research and development, Network for Electronic Transfers (Singapore) Pte Ltd (NETS) launched the CashCard, which could be used to make payments through an electronic payment system.
  • In 2009, NETS launched NETS FlashPay, which the public could use to pay for public transport and electronic toll fees, and for purchases made in hawker centres, food courts, supermarkets and convenience stores.
  • In 2018, NETS launched the contactless CashCard, which provided users with various benefits such as the accumulation of reward points and complimentary CashCard insurance.
  • Merchants can also use cards with the NETS FlashPay feature as commemorative gift cards. For example, Eu Yan Sang launched a set of three souvenir gift cards with unique designs in 2019 as part of its 137th anniversary celebrations.
  • Companies also sell gift cards that can only be used at their own stores. The value stored in the cards is used to pay for purchases in lieu of cash.
