释义

名词

设于地铁站的月台与轨道之间,用于防止越轨的安全门。

DEFINITION

Noun

Safety doors installed between the platforms and tracks of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations for safety and to prevent trespassing onto the tracks.

ETYMOLOGY
  • Platform screen doors open only when a train arrives at a station and comes to a stop.
  • Each platform door is aligned to face a train door directly, so as to prevent safety incidents or track trespassing.
  • While underground stations have always had platform screen doors, aboveground stations initially did not. In 2009, the Land Transport Authority carried out a trial installation of aboveground platform doors at Pasir Ris MRT station. By March 2012, platform doors had been installed at all aboveground MRT stations.

例句
一名阿嫂为了赶上即将离开地铁站的列车,竟不顾危险冲上前用力徒手掰开月台屏门,就算右脚被夹也坚持到底,行为令人咋舌。(《联合晚报》,29/8/2019)
SAMPLE SENTENCE
To catch a train that was about to leave the station, a lady tried to forcefully pry open a platform screen door with her bare hands with no regard for her own safety. She persisted even when her right foot was caught in the door, leaving others flabbergasted. (Lianhe Wanbao, 29/8/2019)
