释义

名词

设于地铁站或轻轨站的月台与轨道之间,用于防止越轨的安全门。

DEFINITION

Noun

Safety doors installed between the platforms and tracks of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rapid Transit (LRT) stations to prevent trespassing onto the tracks.

ETYMOLOGY
  • When a train arrives at a station, the screen doors installed on the platform of the MRT or LRT station would open.
  • Each screen door is aligned to face a train door directly, so as to prevent safety incidents such as track trespassing.
  • To reduce trespassing incidents and ensure passenger safety, the Land Transport Authority carried out a trial installation of platform screen doors at Pasir Ris MRT station in 2009.
  • In March 2012, installation of screen doors at all aboveground MRT stations in Singapore was completed, three months earlier than the expected date of completion.

例句
一名阿嫂为了赶上即将离开地铁站的列车,竟不顾危险冲上前用力徒手掰开月台屏门,就算右脚被夹也坚持到底,行为令人咋舌。(《联合晚 报》, 29/08/2019)
SAMPLE SENTENCE
To catch a train that was about to leave the station, a lady tried to forcefully pry open a platform screen door with her bare hands with no regard for her safety. She persisted even when her right foot was caught (in the door), leaving others stunned at her behaviour. (Lianhe Wanbao, 29/8/2019)
