There is a story behind the invention of post-it notes. A scientist at the 3M Company originally wanted to develop a strong adhesive, but unexpectedly invented a glue that could be peeled off repeatedly without losing its adhesiveness. Meanwhile, another scientist in the company who was practising with his church choir was tired of the bookmarks in his hymn book always falling out. He wanted a bookmark that could be stuck on and repositioned without damaging the book’s pages. After the two scientists began collaborating, 3M was able to develop the post-it notes that are now used worldwide.
