  • 源自广东话 dai bou。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The term “抵步” originated from the Cantonese term dai bou.
  • “抵” means “to reach” or “to arrive”, while “步” refers to “地步” or “境地”, meaning a “state” or “situation”.

例句
女送餐员抵步后被挡在公寓门外，只好把三盒甜品放在保安亭的桌上，但保安被指把食物丢在草地上，也不允许她拎起食物放回桌子，甚至报警处理，气得她拍下保安视频。（《联合晚报》， 5/6/2020）
SAMPLE SENTENCE
The female food delivery courier was denied entry when she arrived at the condominium. She thus had to leave three boxes of desserts at the security post. However, the security guard allegedly dumped the food on the grass, stopped her from picking it up, and called the police. Angered at this treatment, she took a video of the security guard.
