ETYMOLOGY
  • The term “抵步” originated from the Cantonese term dai bou.
  • “抵” means “to reach” or “to arrive”, while “步” refers to “地步” or “境地”, meaning a “state” or “situation”.

女送餐员抵步后被挡在公寓门外,只好把三盒甜品放在保安亭的桌上,但保安被指把食物丢在草地上,也不允许她拎起食物放回桌子,甚至报警处理,气得她拍下保安视频。(《联合晚报》, 5/6/2020)
SAMPLE SENTENCE
The female food delivery courier was denied entry when she arrived at the condominium. She thus had to leave three boxes of desserts at the security post.
