  • 在新加坡，“义标”是进行筹款的主要方式。
  • “义”指以公益为目的，而“标”指拍卖时标上价格的程序。
  • 以中元会的慈善晚会为例，义标的物品(也称“福物”)包括神像、电器、“黑金”(煤炭)等，而得标者会在晚会结束后领取标到的福物，并在当场或隔年将喊出的数目捐出，做为筹办隔年晚会的款项。
ETYMOLOGY
  • In Singapore, auctions are one of the main methods for charity fundraising.
  • The character “义” in this context means “public good”, while “标” refers to “auction bid”.
  • In the case of charity dinners held in conjunction with the Hungry Ghost Festival, the items put up for auction (known as “福物”, meaning “fortune items”) include religious statues, electrical appliances, charcoal, and so on. Successful bidders collect the items at the end of the dinner,
    and donate the bid amounts on the spot or in the subsequent year, to raise funds for the following year’s dinner.
