由来
  • “霸王车”一词，由“霸王”和“车”二词合并而成。其中，“霸王”一词包含着非法营运、乘车该付费时却不付费等蛮横无理的行为的意思。
  • 因为就业困难，1960年代的新加坡曾经出现过数以千计的无执照出租车。
  • 根据公路交通法令 (Road Traffic Act)，非法营运私招车的司机将被罚款最多$3,000，或监禁六个月，或两者兼施。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The term “霸王车” is a combination of the terms “霸王” and “车”. The term “霸王” means unreasonable behaviour, such as running illegal operations and not paying when a ride should be paid for.
  • Due to employment difficulties, thousands of unlicensed taxis sprung up in Singapore in the 1960s.
  • According to the Road Traffic Act, drivers who illegally operate private hire cars will be fined up to $3,000, or imprisoned for six months, or both.
