马来语 kebaya 的音译，也写作“卡巴亚”和“可峇雅”。
无论是日常或特别的节日，马来和娘惹族群女性常会穿上卡峇雅。
卡峇雅一般由轻薄的织物制成，缝纫时间为两个月左右。
关于卡峇雅的来源，主要有以下两种说法：

15世纪时期，卡峇雅从阿拉伯传到东南亚地区；
13至16世纪时期，卡峇雅的原型从中国传到印度尼西亚的爪哇岛（Java）。由于卡峇雅原先是贵族女性才能穿的衣裳，所以到了荷兰殖民时期，卡峇雅便成为了当地女性的正式服装。

ETYMOLOGY

The Mandarin term “卡峇雅” is the transliteration of the Malay term kebaya. It can also be written as “卡巴亚” and “可峇雅”.
The kebaya is worn by Malay and Nyonya women. It may be worn as everyday wear or – more typically nowadays – as festive wear for special occasions.
The kebaya is usually made of light fabric. Tailoring traditionally took about two months.
There are several theories regarding the origins of the kebaya:

One belief is that the kebaya spread from the Arab world to Southeast Asia in the 15th century.
Another belief is that a precursor of the kebaya spread from China to Java in Indonesia between the 13th and 16th centuries. As the original garment was worn by women of the aristocracy, it was adopted by local women as formal wear during the Dutch colonial period.
