  • 现任总理李显龙在2004年担任新加坡第三任总理时,宣布新内阁将有两位资政,吴作栋在卸任总理一职后将担任国务资政(Senior Minister),内阁资政李光耀则继续担任总理公署内阁资政,但英文名称改为“Minister Mentor,Prime Minister’s Office”(之前的英文名称是Senior Minister)。
  • 内阁资政李光耀接受访问时解释,内阁资政(Minister Mentor)一职是在内阁中“扮演辅导者或指引者的角色”。
  • 2004年至2011年,由李光耀担任内阁资政。
ETYMOLOGY
  • When the current Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong took over as the third Prime Minister of Singapore, he announced that the new cabinet would include 2 senior ministers. When then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong handed over the role of Prime Minister, he was appointed the Senior Minister. Senior Minister Lee Kwan Yew continued to mentor within the cabinet, but with the title “Minister Mentor, Prime Minister’s Office”.
  • When interviewed, Minister Mentor Lee Kwan Yew explained that the role of the “Minister Mentor” is to function as a “mentor or guidance” within the cabinet.
  • Lee Kwan Yew remained as Minister Mentor from 2004 to 2011.
