新加坡巴士公司（Singapore Bus Service Ltd）于 2000 年 6 月 23 日正式推出四条名为 “夜猫巴士” 的夜间巴士服务。
2001 年，新加坡巴士公司正式更名为新捷运公司（SBS Transit）。
最初，四条夜猫巴士的路线与平时巴士行驶的路线大致相同，但其中三条比原有的路线短，并且仅提供从市区至组屋区方向的路线。四条路线的终点站分别位于淡滨尼（Tampines）、盛港（Sengkang）、金文泰（Clementi）和文礼（Boon Lay）。截至 2020 年，夜猫巴士的路线增至六条。
夜猫巴士最初的运营时间为周末和公共假期的凌晨 12 点到 3 点，间隔为 20 至 25 分钟。
自 2020 年 4 月 8 日起，有鉴于新型冠状病毒疫情的肆虐，六条夜猫巴士的路线为了配合阻断措施（circuit breaker）而暂停服务。然而，夜猫巴士并未于 6 月 2 日阻断措施解除时恢复行驶。
2022 年 6 月 30 日，夜猫巴士在停驶两年多后正式终止服务，走入历史。

ETYMOLOGY

The Mandarin term “夜猫巴士” is a paraphrase of the English term “Nite Owl”.
On 23 June 2000, Singapore Bus Service Ltd officially launched four night-time bus routes named “Nite Owl”.
In 2001, Singapore Bus Service Ltd was rebranded as SBS Transit.
Initially, the four Nite-Owl bus routes shared similar routes as conventional bus services, except that three of the routes were shorter and travelled only in one direction, from the city to the heartlands. The four routes terminated at Tampines, Sengkang, Clementi, and Boon Lay respectively. As of 2020, the number of Nite Owl bus services had increased to six.
The initial operating hours of Nite Owl buses were from 12am-3am on weekends and public holidays, with intervals from 20 to 25 minutes.
Due to the worsening COVID-19 situation, all six Nite Owl bus services were suspended from 8 April 2020 in tandem with the circuit breaker measures. However, these services did not resume on 2 June 2020, the day that the circuit breaker measures was lifted.
Nite Owl services were officially withdrawn on 30 June 2022, after more than two years of suspension.
